Julio Mario Santo Domingo
(b. 1924) is a Colombian (born in Panamá, but his family is originally from Barranquilla, Colombia [1]) businessman, listed by Forbes magazine as one of the wealthiest men in his country, with a fortune of 7 billion US dollars [2]. Through his majority stake of Grupo Empresarial Bavaria and holding company Valores Bavaria, he controls more than 100 companies in a diversified portfolio of industries that most notably includes beverages [citation needed]. Lately, he made a financial transaction in which Bavaria S.A. merged with South African company SABMiller. In this merging, Santo Domingo acquired the 15.1% of SAB Miller [citation needed], becoming the second shareholder of the second largest beverage company of the world.
He is the son of the late Don Mario Santo Domingo. He is married to Beatrice Dávila and has three children: Julio Mario Jr., whose daughter Tatiana Santo Domingo is the girlfriend of Andrea Casiraghi; Alejandro Santo Domingo, who is now getting into his father's business, once engaged to model Eugenia Silva, and his younger son, Andrés Santo Domingo who works in the music industry, and is engaged to Lauren Davis.
He has houses in Park Avenue in New York City, Paris, and a private island Baru in Colombia
His family donated approximately 10 million dollars to Universidad de los Andes on January 16th, 2007
